Royal Family Shares Emotional Statement as Buckingham Palace Shuts for Renovations

Duchess Sophie Moved to Tears During Exhibition on Courageous Women

The Royal Family has issued a heartfelt statement as Buckingham Palace begins a three-year closure for extensive renovations, marking a temporary shift of state visits to Windsor Castle.

Amid the announcement, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, attended a poignant travelling photo exhibition spotlighting the stories of women who survived genocide. Photos of the Duchess, visibly moved during the event, were shared on the Royal Family's social media accounts alongside an emotional message.

"The Duchess then toured the exhibition by Farida Global Organisation, which tells the stories of survivors of genocide and has been exhibited in cities around the world, including Berlin and The Hague," the statement read.

The post also highlighted the Royal Family’s support for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs annually from November 25 to December 10. The campaign aims to challenge violence against women and girls globally, with the Royal Family actively promoting awareness through events and initiatives.

While Buckingham Palace undergoes restoration, the Royal Family continues to honour its commitments, demonstrating resilience and compassion during this transitional period.
