Royal Family Receives Hundreds of Gifts During Festive Season
Prince William and Princess Kate are among the most beloved members of the royal family, a sentiment reflected in the staggering number of gifts they receive from the public during the Christmas season.
A former royal aide revealed the overwhelming volume of presents sent to the royals, saying, “The public would be horrified to know how many gifts they get—it’s loads!” Grant Harrold, King Charles’s former butler, told Fabulous Magazine that most gifts are sent directly to the Palace rather than their private homes, as those addresses remain undisclosed.
Each gift is meticulously logged and catalogued, with samples presented to the royals for review. “Nothing is returned unless there’s a specific reason, like if something is too extravagant,” Harrold explained.
Where Do the Gifts Go?
According to the official royal website, gifts received by members of the royal family are handled with strict guidelines. Gifts can be:
Used or displayed by the recipient.
Added to the Royal Collection.
Donated to charity.
However, gifts are never sold under any circumstances.
The public is permitted to send certain items, including flowers, food, books authored by the sender, and gifts valued under $190. However, gifts from unknown individuals may be declined if there are concerns about the motives behind the donation.
The policy ensures no offence is caused while maintaining the integrity of royal protocols. As the Prince and Princess of Wales continue to attract public admiration, the festive season highlights the enduring bond between the royals and their supporters.
