Royals Embrace Formality and Family Fun at Sandringham Festivities
Zara Tindall has given a delightful glimpse into the Royal Family’s cherished Christmas traditions as she and her husband, Mike Tindall, prepare to join King Charles and Queen Camilla at Sandringham this year.
Speaking at the Battle of the Commentators charity lunch in London, Zara revealed that the festive season at Sandringham combines formal traditions with personal touches. Christmas Eve is a grand affair, with the royals dressing in black tie for dinner, reflecting the family’s longstanding customs.
Zara shared that even as adults, the family continues to embrace traditions like stockings on Christmas Day. “We give presents to each other on Christmas Eve. As adults, we still have stockings on Christmas Day,” she said, highlighting a practice cherished since the days of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
A key part of the festivities is the family’s traditional walk to St Mary Magdalene Church, where Zara, Mike, and their daughters—Mia, ten, and Lena, six—join their royal cousins, including Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
While their youngest son, Lucas, three, has yet to participate in the Christmas Day walk, Zara’s insights showcase the joy and togetherness of the royal festivities, blending formality with family warmth under King Charles’s reign.
