The former football star reflects on his bond with the monarchy while navigating family dynamics
David Beckham has expressed his deep admiration for the British Royal Family, reflecting on his long-standing connection with the monarchy during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Speaking about his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and his philanthropic ties to the royals, Beckham shared heartfelt remarks in a conversation with CNBC’s Sara Eisen. “I always get emotional talking about anything I do with our royal family. I was brought up in a household that adored and loved everything about them,” he said.
In recent years, Beckham has strengthened his ties to the monarchy. In June 2024, he became an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, King Charles III’s sustainability-focused charity. Additionally, he has collaborated closely with Prince William on various charitable projects, solidifying his relationship with the heir to the throne.
However, reports suggest tension within the Beckham household concerning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. While Victoria Beckham is reportedly open to reconciling with the Sussexes, David and their sons are said to be more hesitant.
A source told In Touch: “David and the boys are still holding a major grudge. They’re super protective of Victoria and don’t believe the Sussexes deserve another chance.”
This dynamic showcases Beckham’s unwavering respect and admiration for the Royal Family while highlighting the complexities of his family’s relationship with Harry and Meghan. Despite the reported tensions, Beckham continues to embrace his close ties to the monarchy through his philanthropic efforts and public admiration.
