King Charles’ ‘secret weapon’ praised for her peacekeeping role in the royal family.
Duchess Sophie, celebrated as King Charles' 'secret weapon,' has received a prestigious new title as the royal family's New Year festivities concluded.
Royal commentator Katie Nicholl described the Duchess of Edinburgh as a 'peacekeeper,' noting her efforts to ease tensions between Harry and other senior royals.
Speaking to The Mirror, Nicholl praised Sophie’s approach to royal duties, saying, “She is a very popular member of the family because she’s easy-going, there’s never any drama, and she just gets on with the job, quietly and diligently.”
Sophie’s close bond with Catherine, forged as both transitioned from commoners to royals, has also been highlighted. The Duchess reportedly played a supportive role during challenging times, including when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties.
In 2020, Sophie was reportedly instrumental in keeping peace during family tensions, demonstrating a deep understanding of the pressures faced by the monarch. Nicholl remarked, “That’s partly why she has been so successful in the family—she’s never been overly involved in internal politics.”
