As Duchess Sophie celebrates her 60th birthday, reports have resurfaced of her surprising reaction to Meghan Markle’s lack of follow-up after an initial heart-to-heart conversation.
Shortly after Meghan joined the royal family, Sophie was reportedly encouraged by senior royals to share her experience and offer guidance to the Duchess of Sussex to help her navigate the transition from commoner to royal.
An insider told The Sun, “It was just the two of them, and they talked for hours. Meghan had so many questions, and Sophie, who understands the challenges of adapting to royal life, gave freely of her advice.”
Initially, Sophie found Meghan “likeable and engaging” and gently suggested she seek advice for managing relationships with the more challenging royals. However, Sophie was “quite surprised” when she didn’t hear from Meghan again after their meeting.
The source added, “As she noted, it would’ve been nice to receive a return invitation to Frogmore Cottage,” referring to Harry and Meghan’s former UK residence.
