Diana Memorial Playground set for £3 million inclusive upgrade

Prince William and Princess Kate’s London residence, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, is set for a significant transformation as plans for a £3 million renovation of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground are unveiled.

Since opening in 2000, the playground has welcomed over a million children. The upcoming revamp will include accessible features like a wheelchair-friendly sailing ship and a redesigned treehouse, creating a more inclusive environment for children of all abilities.

While the couple now spends most of their time at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, a modest home closer to Princess Kate’s parents and their children’s school, they are expected to visit Kensington Palace during the playground’s closure, scheduled from autumn 2025 to spring 2026.

This project not only honours Princess Diana’s legacy but also ensures that the playground continues to serve as a welcoming and inclusive space for future generations, reflecting the royal couple’s commitment to family and community.
