Monarch expresses sorrow over the death of Edward Pettifer
King Charles III has broken his silence following Meghan Markle’s bold return to social media, issuing a heartfelt statement addressing the tragic loss of Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Princes William and Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke.
The 76-year-old monarch expressed his deep sorrow over Pettifer’s death in a New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans. Roya Nikkhah, a royal expert, shared Charles’s words on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Charles is ‘deeply saddened,’ and the Prince of Wales has also been made aware.”
Tiggy Legge-Bourke played a pivotal role in the lives of William and Harry, serving as their nanny from 1993 to 1999. Pettifer and Tiggy married in 1999, with both princes attending the wedding.
This marks King Charles’s first public statement following Meghan Markle’s reemergence on Instagram, where she recently shared two videos that garnered significant attention.
The tragedy has cast a somber tone over the start of the year for the royal family, uniting them in grief amid public and personal challenges.
