Celebrating 35 Years of Harmony and Sustainability with The King’s Foundation
King Charles III has marked The King’s Foundation’s 35th anniversary with a historic gesture, placing a personal item into a commemorative time capsule during a ceremony at Dumfries House. The milestone event celebrated the charity’s legacy of championing sustainable communities and environmental conservation.
The monarch, who has served as the Foundation’s Royal Founding President since its inception in 1990, was joined by an inspiring group of community leaders, students, alumni, and ambassadors. The time capsule, which will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and opened in 100 years, will collect items throughout 2025 that symbolise the Foundation’s mission to safeguard the natural and built worlds.
Adding to the excitement, legendary musician Sir Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, were announced as new ambassadors for the Foundation. Their star power and advocacy will amplify the organisation’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable living and nature conservation.
The Foundation operates under King Charles’s guiding philosophy of Harmony, which views nature as an interconnected system. This approach has shaped the charity’s mission to address planetary challenges holistically, encouraging communities to work with nature rather than against it to create a greener, more sustainable future.
For over three decades, The King’s Foundation has led the way in education, sustainability, and community development, and the time capsule serves as a testament to its enduring impact. Sealed with contributions representing its mission, the capsule symbolises a lasting legacy that will inspire future generations to continue the work of building a harmonious world.
