King Charles’ Sandringham Team Announces Unexpected Closure

King Charles’ Sandringham Team Announces Unexpected Closure

Royal residence updates reveal changes to visitor access and upcoming plans

King Charles III’s team at Sandringham Estate has made a surprising announcement regarding temporary closures at the royal residence.

In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, the team shared: “Sandringham Terrace Café will close on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 January. Sandringham Restaurant remains open as usual.” The Sandringham Estate website describes the Terrace Takeaway Café as a spot for quick snacks while exploring the estate’s extensive parklands.

The announcement comes as the estate prepares for its formal gardens to reopen in February, with Sandringham House set to welcome visitors again in the spring.

King Charles and Queen Camilla spent Christmas at Sandringham, continuing the royal tradition of celebrating the holiday in Norfolk. Following their festive stay, the royal couple traveled to Scotland, residing at Balmoral Castle. The Scottish grounds are scheduled to reopen to visitors on 24 January, allowing access to the castle exterior, gift shop, and restaurant.

In April, Balmoral will open its doors to visitors, including access to the ballroom for the 2025 exhibition.

While King Charles assumed the throne in 2023, he continues to reside at Clarence House rather than Buckingham Palace. The King’s move to the palace is not expected until 2027 due to ongoing £369 million renovations, a project initiated during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and now overseen by the King.

These updates showcase the continued maintenance and adaptation of royal residences, balancing public access with the monarchy’s traditions and evolving needs.
