Thomas Markle Plans Relocation After Years of Estrangement
Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle’s estranged father, has made a heartfelt plea to his daughter while revealing his plans for a fresh start. His announcement comes shortly after Meghan’s high-profile return to social media and the release of the trailer for her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Thomas, 79, who has been estranged from Meghan since before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, shared his emotional decision to relocate to Southeast Asia in search of “kinder people” and a peaceful life.
“I am ready for a change,” Thomas revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail. “I have felt stuck in a rut for some time and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness.”
Despite their years of estrangement, Thomas expressed that “the door remains constantly open” for Meghan, Harry, and their children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
Thomas, who suffered two heart attacks and a possible stroke in recent years, said the move is not an escape from the Sussexes but a step toward a quieter and friendlier existence.
“I travelled in that part of the world when I was younger. The people are so kind and welcoming, and they respect older people,” he said. “At 80, it’s time to go somewhere where the people are lovely, and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier life.”
He plans to relocate with his son and Meghan’s half-brother, Tom Jr., aiming to embrace the culture, affordability, and healthcare options in Southeast Asia.
As he contemplates this life-changing move, Thomas remains hopeful for reconciliation with his daughter, sharing that he wishes to spend his remaining years free from the “awful drama of recent years.”
