Duchess of York Pays Tribute to Late Staff Member Amid Personal Challenges
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has shared a heartfelt message following the tragic loss of a beloved member of her household staff.
The 65-year-old took to social media to honour Liz, a loyal member of her team who passed away from cancer late last year. Reposting a statement from her charity, Sarah’s Trust, Ferguson described Liz as “a beautiful woman, inside and out,” and expressed how deeply she will be missed.
The Duchess wrote: “Liz was a loyal member of The Duchess of York’s household, and she sadly died of cancer late last year. Liz was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and is sorely missed by all of us who had the good fortune of sharing our lives with her.”
Adding her own words on Instagram, Ferguson said, “Liz was a truly amazing woman and will be sorely missed by us all. May she rest in peace.”
Sarah’s Trust announced a donation in Liz’s memory to the St Vincent’s Curran Foundation, an organisation dedicated to innovative cancer research and treatment. The charity’s statement read: “Thank you, Liz, for bringing us so much joy. May you rest in peace.”
The touching tribute comes amid a challenging time for Ferguson, who opted to skip this year’s royal festivities following increased scrutiny on her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, due to the "Chinese spy" scandal. The Duke of York’s absence from royal events has drawn significant public attention, and Ferguson has chosen to remain out of the spotlight.
The Duchess’s heartfelt words reflect her deep appreciation for Liz’s contribution and her commitment to honouring those close to her during a difficult period for the royal family.
