TV star weighs in on royal decision to prioritize philanthropy over fashion
Amanda Holden has shared her thoughts on Princess Kate’s surprising decision to stop publicly sharing details of her outfits at royal engagements.
Kensington Palace has reportedly made a strategic change, shifting focus from Kate’s wardrobe to her charitable initiatives. A palace insider told The Times, “Kate wants the focus to remain on the causes she supports and the people she meets, rather than her fashion choices.”
Discussing the shift on Heart Radio, Holden, 53, supported Kate’s reasoning. “Oh my gosh, she’s absolutely right. People focus too much on what you’re wearing when you’re trying to do meaningful work.”
However, she also acknowledged the impact of the “Kate effect”, where outfits worn by the Princess of Wales sell out instantly. Holden suggested that despite the palace’s decision, fashion enthusiasts would still track down the details of Kate’s wardrobe. “People will always find a way,” she added with a laugh.
This change in policy comes as Princess Kate recently announced her remission from cancer, reinforcing her renewed focus on philanthropy and public service.
