The Princess of Wales, who has resumed her royal duties following her battle with cancer, has been given the authority to issue her own royal warrants—an honour that neither Queen Elizabeth II nor Princess Anne received.
An insider revealed, “The King’s decision to bestow this privilege upon Catherine highlights his confidence in the future Queen’s ability to manage royal responsibilities. Some royal commentators view this move as a notable shift in the monarchy’s power structure.”
Reports indicate that the last Princess of Wales to hold this authority was Queen Mary, over a century ago. Royal warrants, which require the monarch’s approval, are granted to businesses that provide consistent goods or services to the royal household.
King Charles has held the power to issue royal warrants since his tenure as Prince of Wales, a privilege passed down by Queen Elizabeth II, who issued 686 warrants during her reign.
With this new role, Catherine joins King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William in holding the authority to grant royal warrants, further solidifying her influence within the royal family.
