Expert Defends Meghan Markle Against Criticism Over New Lifestyle Brand

Royal commentator dismisses claims of bitterness amid controversy surrounding ‘As Ever’

Meghan Markle’s return to the lifestyle and wellness industry with her new brand, As Ever, has stirred controversy, but an expert has stepped forward to defend her against the backlash.

The Duchess of Sussex introduced her brand through an upbeat Instagram video, reigniting interest in her passion for blogging. However, critics quickly accused her of copying a coat of arms from a Spanish town in Mallorca for the brand’s logo—featuring a palm tree flanked by two hummingbirds. Additionally, concerns were raised over potential conflicts with an existing New York-based clothing company sharing a similar name.

Speculation intensified when some viewers interpreted Meghan’s remarks in the video as a subtle swipe at the Royal Family. She noted how she hadn’t been able to share her love for cooking, gardening, and crafting for several years, a statement some claimed was a veiled criticism of her time as a working royal.

Amid the backlash, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond dismissed claims that Meghan was targeting the monarchy. “We all make mistakes. I don’t think she was making a dig at the Royals. It is simply a statement of fact. She didn’t sound bitter,” Bond told The Mirror.

Before marrying Harry, Meghan ran a successful lifestyle blog, The Tig, where she shared travel experiences, recipes, and wellness insights. Bond believes this background equips her well for success with As Ever, despite the controversy surrounding its launch.
