Harry and Meghan Markle’s evolving public strategies have sparked debate, with experts suggesting that separating their professional brands could help them strengthen their individual identities and avoid ongoing criticism.

In recent months, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken increasingly independent approaches—Meghan attending high-profile events while Harry focused on philanthropic work. However, their reunion at the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada has reignited discussions about their joint public presence.

PR expert Edward Coram James, CEO of Go Up, believes that merging their brands may not be the best approach. He argues that Invictus is Harry’s passion project, yet Meghan’s presence often shifts media attention away from his work.

“Harry has worked tirelessly to build this initiative, but when Meghan steps into the spotlight, the narrative shifts,” he told GB News. “The smartest strategy? Operate separately, strengthen their individual identities, and reunite from a position of power.”

Meghan, who recently returned to social media, documented much of the Games on Instagram. Her newly launched handle, @meghan, quickly gained 1.7 million followers, while Harry has yet to establish a public profile. Midway through the event, Meghan returned to the U.S. to reunite with their children, leaving Harry to continue representing Invictus solo.

With public perception at a turning point, experts suggest that forging independent paths may allow them to reclaim their personal legacies while reducing backlash.
