Duke and Duchess of Sussex Clarify Charity Contribution Amid Political Speculation
Harry and Meghan Markle have released a powerful joint statement addressing bombshell claims surrounding a significant donation made during the ongoing Invictus Games 2025.
According to the New York Post, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex donated £198,000 through their Archewell Foundation to Ashley Biden's nonprofit organisation. The contribution, made before the charity’s official launch, sparked speculation regarding its political implications.
However, the couple swiftly denied any political motivations behind the donation. “It’s important to note The Duke and Duchess did not endorse any candidate in the [2024 presidential] election. To suggest they’re trying to curry favour with the Democratic Party—simply because a donation went to Ashley Biden’s nonpartisan nonprofit focused on women’s mental health, or due to hiring a consultant specialising in digital safety—is misguided,” their spokesperson stated.
Reaffirming their dedication to meaningful causes, a team member added, “The Duke and Duchess are committed to investing in people and initiatives that truly make a difference.”
The clarification comes as Harry remains engaged in the Invictus Games in Canada, where the closing ceremony is set to take place later this week.
