Prince Joachim and Princess Marie to Represent Denmark at Prestigious Event in Vancouver
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark are set to attend the Invictus Games 2025 in Vancouver, Canada, next month, marking a high-profile royal presence at the international sporting event.
The Danish Royal Household officially confirmed their participation, stating: “Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will attend the Invictus Games 2025, Vancouver, Canada.”
The couple, who relocated to the United States in early 2023, have often been compared to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle due to their decision to step away from traditional royal roles. Their move followed Queen Margrethe II’s controversial decision to revoke the princely titles of their children, Count Henrik and Countess Athena, prompting them to seek a more private life in Washington, D.C.
Since then, Prince Joachim has taken on a role as a defence attaché at the Danish Embassy, while the couple has embraced a lifestyle outside of direct royal duties. Their children now enjoy a more independent upbringing, free from the constraints of royal protocols.
While the British royal family has distanced itself from the Invictus Games in recent years, the event continues to gain international recognition and royal backing. Joachim and Marie’s attendance is expected to add further prestige to the global competition, which honours and supports wounded veterans through sport.
