Duchess Sophie’s Son Under Pressure After Lady Louise Rejects Official Role
As the royal family undergoes significant change, attention is shifting to the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s children—Lady Louise, 21, and James, Viscount Severn, 17.
King Charles has long supported a slimmed-down monarchy since taking the throne in 2022, but Prince William appears to be taking a different approach as his influence within the royal family grows. Sources suggest that William is keen to offer senior working roles to Louise and James, particularly in light of their parents’ steadfast dedication to the Crown during recent challenges.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl noted that the shifting dynamics of the monarchy could see the Edinburghs’ children given the opportunity to take on full-time royal duties. However, Lady Louise has already distanced herself from such a future, opting out of a royal title and pursuing a more traditional career path alongside her university education.
With Louise declining an official role, the focus has now turned to James, on whom Prince William reportedly has high hopes. However, experts suggest that the young royal may ultimately choose to follow his sister’s path, potentially disappointing the future king.
"It's expected that her brother may do the same, but we'll see," Nicholl stated. "Anything could happen under a new reign."
