Rapper responds to criticism following Grammys controversy
Kanye West has addressed accusations of controlling his wife, Bianca Censori, following their controversial appearance at the Grammy Awards. In a rare admission, the 47-year-old rapper acknowledged his influence over Censori, dismissing criticism in a series of social media posts on X on Friday, February 7.
West stated that he has “dominion” over his wife, rejecting any association with “woke feminist” ideals. He further defended their relationship, writing, “She’s with a billionaire, why would she listen to any of you dumb ass broke b----es?”
The rapper also responded to speculation that Censori was forced to remove her coat at the event, insisting, “Yes, I don’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to, but she definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without my approval, you stupid woke a-- pawns.”
His comments follow his previous admission that he “fired and blocked” an employee who was “uncomfortable” with Censori’s revealing red-carpet outfit.
West further fuelled controversy by declaring that he “is racist” and refusing to apologise for his past antisemitic remarks, while reiterating his previous claim that “slavery is a choice.”
Amid the backlash, a lip reader has alleged that West instructed Censori to “make a scene” by dropping her coat during the Grammys appearance.
