Leaders Showcase Green Innovation and Community Initiatives
King Charles, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the Deputy Prime Minister visited Newquay to highlight the town’s dedication to sustainability and community-driven initiatives.
Their first stop was Newquay Orchard, a thriving community space focused on education, skills training, and environmental awareness. The leaders engaged with volunteers and staff in the Community Kitchen, where locals receive employability support and culinary training.
Next, they visited Nansledan School, an eco-friendly primary school established by the Duchy of Cornwall. With a curriculum centred on sustainability, STEM, and health education, the school fosters hands-on learning experiences. The delegation observed a PE session, interacted with students, and explored the school’s outdoor learning facilities.
The visit concluded at Kew An Lergh, where they met local entrepreneurs and community members at the newly inaugurated Nansledan Community Centre. This development reflects Newquay’s vision of integrating sustainability with business and urban planning.
