Monarch revisits past pledge as he embraces artistic inspiration
King Charles stepped out for a vibrant royal engagement, momentarily shifting focus from a solemn anniversary to a more uplifting occasion.
During his visit to the Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) in Hammersmith, the King was reminded of a promise he made 15 years ago—to showcase his own artwork at the gallery.
Artist and gallery manager Joanna Ciechanowska playfully asked, “Have you brought your paintings, your beautiful paintings, to us?”
The monarch smiled, admitting, “No, sadly not. I’m not sure they’re that good.” However, as he admired the exhibition, Charles made another commitment:
“I’ll try and keep up my painting, and you’ll have to exhibit them here,” he said, before confessing, “I haven’t done any of Poland.”
The visit, which took place just weeks after Charles' first official trip to Poland as King, was a heartfelt moment of connection with the Polish community in the UK.
Buckingham Palace later shared highlights from the event, capturing the King’s enthusiasm as he engaged with attendees and viewed the artwork.
The engagement also coincided with the one-year mark since the announcement of Charles’ cancer diagnosis, making his return to public life all the more significant.
