Duke of York faces further isolation as monarch distances himself
Prince Andrew’s hopes of returning to royal life have suffered another major setback as King Charles refuses to grant him any path back into public engagements.
The monarch, who had previously shown private support for his younger brother despite his removal from royal duties, is now reportedly losing patience—particularly after fresh allegations linking Andrew to a suspected Chinese spy reignited concerns. The controversy led to his exclusion from the royal family’s Christmas celebrations.
Adding to his woes, new evidence contradicts Andrew’s claim that he severed ties with Jeffrey Epstein in 2010, as resurfaced friendly correspondence suggests otherwise. The latest revelations have deepened the rift between him and the royal family, with Charles determined to keep his brother from any official appearances.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “King Charles III is expected to do all he can to disassociate himself publicly and to make certain Andrew doesn’t appear with any senior members of the royal family.”
Meanwhile, royal commentator Helena Chard noted, “Andrew is pining for his previous life, although he is lucky that he can throw himself into the proud grandfather role.” However, she acknowledged that “the royal family and the few friends he has left are sadly burdened with the negative fallout.”
King Charles’ firm stance comes shortly after Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, issued an emotional statement about her ongoing health battles. Having previously been diagnosed with breast cancer, Fergie recently revealed she is now facing melanoma. Her message, which emphasized “forgiveness for yourself and your loved ones”, was seen by some as particularly poignant given Andrew’s ongoing controversies.
