Duchess Confirms Major Update on Multi-Million-Dollar Deal Amid Speculation
Meghan Markle has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding her multi-million-dollar Netflix deal, following rumours that the contract was on the brink of collapse.
The Duchess of Sussex shared an exciting update via a candid selfie video on her official Instagram page, revealing a rebrand for her upcoming lifestyle venture. The new brand name, As Ever, aligns with her forthcoming Netflix show, set to premiere in two weeks.
“In two weeks, my show is coming out, which I’m so excited for,” Meghan told her followers. “And also, my business, which I think there has been a lot of curiosity about.”
She explained the decision behind the brand's name change, hinting at previous legal challenges: “Last year, I had thought, ‘American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name.’ It’s my neighbourhood; it’s a nickname for Santa Barbara, but it limited me to things just from this area.”
Meghan also hinted at a renewed partnership with Netflix, saying, “Then Netflix came on, not just as my partner in the show, but as my partner in my business. which was huge. I’ve been waiting for the right moment to share the name I secured back in 2022, and this is the moment—As Ever.”
This announcement comes after speculation grew regarding the future of the Sussexes’ Netflix deal, with royal experts suggesting it was in jeopardy following the success of Harry & Meghan but no subsequent major projects. Concerns intensified when Meghan’s podcast was dropped by Spotify, later picked up by Lemonada Media.
While Meghan’s comments strongly suggest a renewed collaboration with Netflix, details of the contract extension remain undisclosed. Whether the Sussexes will reveal more about the deal in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
