Meghan Markle Commands Attention with Hollywood-Style Speech at Invictus Games

Duchess Praises Harry’s Role as a Father While Critics Question Her Theatrics

Meghan Markle captivated the audience at the Invictus Games opening ceremony in Vancouver, delivering an impromptu speech that royal commentators likened to a Hollywood awards show.

Taking the stage alongside Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, spoke passionately about the Invictus Games community, calling it a “family” and praising Harry’s dedication as a father to their two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3. Her address concluded with a public kiss, further highlighting the couple’s affectionate display.

Harry, dressed in a tailored suit and navy tie, appeared in high spirits as he engaged with athletes, even showing off his playful side by dancing for photos.

However, royal expert Hugo Vickers questioned Meghan’s approach, telling The Sun that her appearance felt like an “Oscar ceremony” moment. “She took charge, owning the stage and setting the scene for Harry’s entrance,” he noted. “Her presence was dominant, and while it projected unity, one must remember she is an actress.”

Vickers also suggested that a solo appearance from Harry might have been more fitting, implying that Meghan’s speech overshadowed his role.

While some praised the couple’s teamwork and warmth, others remain skeptical of Meghan’s involvement, debating whether her presence enhances or distracts from the Games’ mission.
