Duchess of Sussex Feels 'Heartbroken' Over Constant Comparisons and Criticism
Meghan Markle has reportedly been left in tears after Catherine received widespread praise for her charitable work, while Meghan’s efforts continue to face harsh criticism.
The Duchess of Sussex recently announced the rebranding of her lifestyle venture to As Ever. However, insiders claim the moment was overshadowed by comparisons to Catherine, leaving Meghan feeling "heartbroken" and "hurt."
According to Closer magazine, “Meghan has, of course, noticed how millions of royal watchers seem to fawn over Catherine’s every move—without giving her work so much as a passing glance.”
The source added, “It hurts her deeply that she was criticised for helping with wildfire relief efforts, while Catherine is celebrated as an almost saintly figure. What stings even more is that the criticism is just as harsh in America as it is in Britain.”
An insider revealed that Meghan feels constantly overshadowed and misjudged. “Critics seem to want her to stay out of sight, but that’s not who she is—she doesn’t want to be outshone.”
The former Suits star reportedly feels a responsibility to prove that she is just as much Princess Diana’s daughter-in-law as Catherine. However, Meghan believes that no matter how much philanthropic work she does, it is often dismissed as mere publicity.
“It feels like an uphill battle,” the insider continued. “The fact that people criticised her for helping wildfire victims shows that she can’t seem to win, which is incredibly disheartening.”
These comments surfaced shortly after Meghan’s major announcement about the rebranding of her lifestyle brand to As Ever.
