Meghan Markle Updates Engagement Ring Again—Here's What It Means

Duchess of Sussex’s Latest Ring Modification Reflects Her Evolving Journey

Meghan Markle has made yet another change to her engagement ring, and keen-eyed royal watchers have taken notice.

Fans spotted the latest update in the trailer for her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, as well as during her recent appearances at the Invictus Games. The ring’s centre diamond, originally a cushion cut, has now been replaced with a square emerald-cut stone—marking the fourth major update since Harry proposed in 2017.

Jewellery expert Neil Dutta believes these changes signify Meghan’s personal evolution. “This is a significant departure from the original cushion-cut diamond, embracing a more contemporary and refined aesthetic,” he explained.

Emerald-cut diamonds are often associated with confidence, clarity, and sophistication—qualities Meghan may identify with as she continues to forge her independent path away from royal life.

This is not the first time Meghan has altered her ring. In 2019, she replaced the original yellow gold band—once said to be her favourite metal—with a more delicate, diamond-studded band. By 2022, additional diamonds were added, reportedly increasing the ring’s value to £250,000.

With this latest upgrade, experts estimate the ring is now worth around £300,000.

The transformation of Meghan’s engagement ring seems to reflect her and Harry’s transition from royal duties to a new chapter on their own terms. “Our most cherished jewellery often evolves with us,” Dutta noted, “reflecting our changing styles, experiences, and milestones in life.”
