Monarch’s Cancer Treatment Reportedly Delays International Travel Plans
Buckingham Palace has responded to recent reports regarding King Charles III’s potential visit to the United States, clarifying that the monarch’s ongoing cancer treatment is currently preventing any such travel.
An official from the Palace confirmed that while the 76-year-old King continues to make steady progress in his recovery, a trip to America remains unlikely until he is fully well.
This clarification follows claims by Daily Mirror royal correspondent Russell Myers, who suggested that plans for a US visit were underway. However, a palace insider quickly refuted these claims, telling the Daily Beast that there have been no plans or preliminary discussions regarding a visit to the US—not even for 2026.
Additionally, a friend close to the King and Queen shared with The Royalist that “any such plans remain entirely contingent on his ongoing cancer treatment.”
Although maintaining strong diplomatic relations with the United States remains important, royal visits are only conducted at the request and discretion of the British government. This ensures that such trips serve diplomatic purposes rather than personal interests.
