Prince Andrew Faces Another Blow as Portraits Removed from Historic Pub

Duke of York loses another honour amid ongoing controversies

Prince Andrew has suffered another setback as a well-known London pub, The Duke of York, removed large signboards featuring his portraits, marking another symbolic loss for the embattled royal.

According to The Sun, the Fitzrovia-based pub had long displayed paintings of Andrew, originally commissioned in 2014 by American artist Igor Babailov, depicting him in his Royal Navy uniform. Despite the late Queen stripping him of his military titles and royal patronages in 2022, the previous owners, Debi Sickelmore and Alan Monks, had chosen to keep the images in place.

However, with new ownership under Hertford-based brewery McMullen and Sons, the decision was made to remove the Duke's portraits, further distancing the establishment from its namesake.

Prince Andrew has been at the centre of multiple controversies, most recently due to his alleged association with a suspected spy who was barred from entering the UK on national security grounds. This latest incident adds to the Duke's ongoing struggles as tensions with King Charles over Royal Lodge continue to mount.
