King Charles is under growing pressure to address renewed controversy surrounding Prince Andrew, whose recent actions have triggered fresh public backlash and national security concerns.
Despite being stripped of royal titles and patronages following a high-profile sex scandal in 2019, Andrew, who recently celebrated his 65th birthday, has stirred further criticism by purchasing a costly new royal Range Rover. The lavish gift sparked outrage among the public, adding to a series of ongoing blunders linked to the disgraced royal.
Compounding the issue, U.S. attorney Gloria Allred has publicly called on King Charles to address the mounting concerns. Allred referenced Andrew's alleged involvement in a Chinese spy scandal, which raised national security alarms after reports emerged that a suspected spy had been granted access to royal palaces.
“We can handle the truth, and the public deserves the truth,” Allred insisted, urging the monarch to break the cycle of partial disclosures. “The drip, drip, drip of information is like a water torture test for both the public and the Royal Family.”
Allred further emphasised the importance of King Charles publicly demonstrating support for victims of sexual violence, suggesting that the royal family’s credibility depends on it. “Surely, that is the public image they would like to have. That’s the message they would like to send,” she added.
The controversy reignited memories of Andrew's ill-fated Newsnight interview, where he denied ongoing contact with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. However, new revelations suggest that Andrew maintained ties with Epstein well beyond his public claims.
With Andrew already sidelined from royal duties, these latest developments place King Charles in a challenging position, as the public and critics alike demand decisive action to prevent further damage to the monarchy’s reputation.
