Prince Andrew's 65th Birthday Could Be His Last at Royal Lodge

Financial Struggles and Dispute with King Charles Threaten Duke's Residence

Prince Andrew is celebrating his 65th birthday today, but uncertainty looms over his future at Royal Lodge as financial pressures and tensions with King Charles continue to mount.

The Duke of York, who secured a 75-year lease on the Windsor estate property in 2003, now faces challenges maintaining the Grade II-listed home after the King withdrew his £1 million annual allowance last year. Under the terms of the lease with the Crown Estate, Andrew is solely responsible for the property's upkeep.

Property expert Terry Fisher commented on the situation, warning that while eviction is not imminent, the Duke's hold on Royal Lodge could weaken if crucial repairs are not completed. Recent inspections revealed significant structural issues, with repairs estimated to cost around £1 million.

Images from last year also showed visible signs of neglect across the estate. Should the property fall into severe disrepair, the Crown Estate may have valid grounds to reclaim it.

As financial strains persist and relations with the King remain tense, Andrew’s stay at Royal Lodge appears increasingly uncertain—making this birthday less a cause for celebration and more a moment of reflection.
