Sussexes mark Black History Month before heading to Invictus Games
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued an important statement ahead of their upcoming visit to Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games, which begins on Saturday, February 8.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex used their Archewell Foundation platform to honour Black History Month, encouraging people to reflect on the contributions of leaders and changemakers who have driven progress.
Their statement reads: “At The Archewell Foundation, we celebrate the rich culture and contributions of those who have come before us throughout history. As we mark Black History Month, we encourage everyone to learn and reflect on the contributions of leaders, activists, and changemakers who have inspired progress.”
The couple also highlighted the importance of appreciating history, art, and culture, stating that such reflection “not only honors the communities that have built these spaces but also contributes to our collective well-being.”
Alongside their message, Harry and Meghan provided educational resources for those looking to learn more, including the California African American Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and other institutions dedicated to African American heritage.
The Sussexes’ meaningful statement comes just days before Harry takes center stage at the Invictus Games in Canada, further reinforcing their commitment to global advocacy and community engagement.
