Hollywood Dreams Fade as the Sussexes Face Mounting Challenges
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly frustrated by their struggle to be recognized as “true A-listers” in their elite Montecito neighborhood, home to Hollywood icons like Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston.
Despite stepping away from royal life in 2020 to pursue a more glamorous future in California, their transition into Hollywood’s inner circle has not been as seamless as expected.
Royal expert Tom Quinn told Fabulous magazine: “The truth is that Meghan and Harry hate the idea that they aren't seen as true A-listers in Montecito. They will have seen recent surveys in the American press suggesting their star is on the wane—people have simply lost interest.”
A local Montecito resident echoed this sentiment, telling The Sun: “We leave Harry and Meghan be. There are loads of famous people around here, so no one bats an eyelid about two more rich people.”
Despite securing lucrative deals, the couple has faced significant career setbacks:
- Spotify Fallout: Their £18 million Archetypes podcast was canceled after just 13 episodes, with a Spotify executive branding them “f***** grifters.”*
- Netflix Struggles: Harry’s Polo documentary was criticized as “out of touch” and failed to make Netflix’s top 10 in any country.
- Pressure on Meghan’s Project: With Love, Meghan, her upcoming cooking series, was delayed from January to March due to the LA wildfires. Industry insiders believe it “needs to be an enormous hit” to salvage their brand.
Adding to the uncertainty, their five-year Netflix contract is set to expire in August 2025, leaving questions about their future in entertainment.
