Prince Harry Faces Historic Invictus Games Decision as South Korea Submits 2029 Bid

Groundbreaking Expansion Could Bring Event to Asia for the First Time

Prince Harry is set to consider a major proposal as South Korea formally enters the race to host the 2029 Invictus Games, potentially marking the competition’s first-ever event in Asia.

The bid will be officially presented during the ongoing Invictus Games in Vancouver, with South Korea’s Vice Veterans Affairs Minister, Lee Hee-wan, leading a government delegation to make the announcement on Sunday. If successful, South Korea would join a growing list of host nations supporting the event since Harry launched it in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Canada for the opening ceremony, while their children, Archie and Lilibet, remained in California. Meghan hinted at the possibility of their children attending future Games, sharing that she and Harry “can’t wait to bring our kids” to experience the event.

Their next opportunity to attend as a family could be in 2027, when Birmingham, England, hosts the Games. However, Harry’s ongoing legal matters regarding UK security may influence their decision.

With South Korea’s bid now in motion, the Invictus Games could be on the verge of a historic expansion, further strengthening its global impact and commitment to wounded veterans worldwide.
