Prince Harry Faces Legal Setback Days Before Invictus Games

Duke of Sussex’s visa case reopened as major event approaches

Prince Harry has been hit with an unexpected legal hurdle just days before the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 kicks off, casting a shadow over his much-anticipated appearance.

The Duke of Sussex, who is set to travel for the event, now finds himself back in the spotlight over his US visa status. Judge Carl Nichols has reopened the case surrounding Harry’s immigration application, just five months after initially ruling in his favor.

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has been pushing for the release of Harry’s visa records, arguing that his admission of past drug use in his memoir Spare should have impacted his eligibility. If it is found that Harry misrepresented his history on his application, he could face serious consequences, including possible deportation.

Speculation is growing over whether Harry received special treatment under the Biden administration, and now, with a potential shift in US leadership, the case has been revived. Judge Nichols has stated he is “not foreclosing the possibility that there might be some possible relief,” leaving the Duke’s legal status uncertain.

The timing of the development comes as Harry and Meghan were reportedly planning a post-Invictus Games getaway in the Bahamas to relax after a turbulent few months. However, with this legal issue resurfacing, it remains to be seen whether Harry can proceed with his plans without added stress.

As the Invictus Games prepare to begin on February 8, the Duke’s attention will be divided between celebrating the event’s milestone and addressing a renewed legal battle.
