Duke of Sussex Navigates Challenging Questions as His Children Get Older
Prince Harry has revealed that his children, Archie and Lilibet, are becoming increasingly inquisitive, asking him complex questions about the world as they grow older.
The Duke of Sussex, who remained in Canada for the conclusion of the Invictus Games while Meghan Markle returned to California to be with their children, spoke about the challenges of addressing their curiosity.
Speaking to People Magazine, Harry noted that his children are “fascinated” by the Games, which often leads to deep and meaningful conversations.
“To explain why that person is missing a leg, why that person is missing an arm, why do they look the way they do—it’s challenging but important,” he said.
He added that Archie, in particular, is eager to learn more. “Our kids are still so young, but Archie, especially, is asking those questions. As any parent knows, once you open that door and those questions are asked, or that conversation starts, more and more doors start opening.”
He continued, “Then he starts asking, ‘How did they get injured? What’s a mine? What’s all this?’ It becomes opening Pandora’s box, to some extent, especially with kids this age, because they have no filter, and they’re just so curious and so inquisitive! They want to know more, more, more.”
As the founder of the Invictus Games, launched in 2014 to support wounded veterans, Harry is learning to balance his role as a father while helping his children understand the world around them.
Meanwhile, Meghan shared an update after reuniting with Archie and Lilibet at their Montecito home. Posting on Instagram, she revealed the special treats she brought back from Canada for their children, along with a message of encouragement for Harry:
“A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones! Cheering you on from home!”
