Duke of Sussex Caught Off Guard by Team Australia's Playful Gesture at Invictus Games
Prince Harry was left both amused and surprised after receiving an unexpected gift at the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver—courtesy of Team Australia.
During the event, the Duke of Sussex was handed a pair of Speedos, affectionately known in Australia as "budgie smugglers." Holding up the tiny swimsuit, Harry, 40, laughed and exclaimed, "So inappropriate! I love it. Thank you so much."
Meghan Markle, clearly entertained, later shared the hilarious moment on her Instagram Stories, playfully writing, "And Team Australia, you've done it again!"
The lighthearted exchange was a throwback to the 2018 Sydney Invictus Games when an Australian athlete jokingly asked Harry to autograph a pair of Speedos. At the time, the prince quipped that he’d only sign them if the athlete wore them on his head—though royal protocol prevented him from signing at all.
Now, years later, Team Australia made sure Harry finally got his own pair.
The Vancouver-Whistler Games are making history by introducing winter sports, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, and skeleton. At the opening ceremony, Harry delivered an inspiring speech, telling competitors, "Invictus didn’t save you. You saved yourself."
While the Games continue to showcase resilience and strength, Harry’s unexpected gift added a touch of humour to the festivities.
