Duke’s Comments Trigger Fresh Debate Over His Relationship with Britain
Harry’s latest remarks have ignited fresh criticism, with some Britons interpreting his words as a subtle dig at his homeland.
During an interview with CTV News, the Duke of Sussex praised Canada’s warm hospitality towards him and Meghan Markle, saying, “Canada has been really really good to my wife over all these years. And it's been really really good to us as well.”
While some view his comments as a heartfelt acknowledgment of Canadian support, others suggest they imply an unfavourable comparison to the treatment he and Meghan received in the UK.
Harry went on to recall their time on Vancouver Island in 2020, describing how locals respected their privacy, allowing them to live undisturbed for weeks.
The Duke is currently in Canada for the Invictus Games, which he founded in London in 2014 for wounded military veterans. However, Meghan left the event early to reunite with their children.
