Duke of Sussex Prepares for First-Ever Winter Games in Vancouver
Prince Harry’s Invictus Games is set to return to the UK, with Birmingham announced as the host city for the 2027 edition of the international sporting event.
As the Duke of Sussex prepares for the inaugural winter games in Vancouver and Whistler, Invictus Games CEO Dominic Reid highlighted the significance of bringing the competition back to British soil.
"The decision to return to the UK is deeply meaningful. Birmingham holds special significance as it played a crucial role in the rehabilitation of injured service members at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital," Reid stated.
Founded by Prince Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games has seen significant growth, with the upcoming 2025 event in Canada welcoming 23 participating nations, including newcomers Lithuania and Brazil.
Reid also praised Harry’s unwavering dedication to the initiative, underscoring his personal connection to its mission.
"This initiative is incredibly important to him—not just as a veteran but as someone who has seen firsthand the challenges faced by wounded warriors," he said.
As Vancouver prepares to host the next edition, the announcement of Birmingham as the 2027 venue further solidifies the tournament’s legacy, reaffirming Prince Harry’s commitment to supporting and empowering injured military personnel worldwide.
