Prince Harry’s U.S. Residency Under Scrutiny as Trump Returns to Power

Sussexes could face uncertainty amid renewed political tensions

Donald Trump’s return to the White House has reignited concerns over Prince Harry’s U.S. residency, as the former president previously hinted at potential consequences for the Duke of Sussex.

During his campaign, Trump made critical remarks about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, even suggesting that Harry could face deportation due to admissions in his memoir Spare, where he detailed past drug use, including marijuana, cocaine, and psychedelics.

The Heritage Foundation has been pushing for the release of Harry’s visa application to determine whether he disclosed this drug use—an issue that could have implications for his residency status.

While Trump’s focus remains on larger political matters, royal expert Jennie Bond suggests the Sussexes may be feeling uneasy. She noted that having a U.S. president with the power to revoke Harry’s residency—especially one Meghan has publicly criticised—could create tension. However, she also acknowledged that “Trump likely has bigger priorities than the immigration status of a British prince.”

Trump has long been critical of Harry and Meghan since their royal exit and relocation to the U.S. With his return to office, speculation continues over whether their American future could face fresh challenges.
