Court Nears Key Decision on Immigration Records Amid Controversy Over Past Admissions
Harry’s US residency status is under renewed scrutiny as a legal battle over his immigration records reaches a pivotal stage. The case, led by The Heritage Foundation—a conservative think tank—demands greater transparency regarding the Duke of Sussex’s visa application.
The organisation has questioned whether Harry received special treatment when relocating to the United States in 2020, particularly after his admissions of past drug use in his memoir Spare. The Foundation claims the matter is of public interest, alleging that Harry either received exceptions unavailable to ordinary applicants or made inaccurate declarations on his immigration forms.
Their initial Freedom of Information Act request for access to Harry’s immigration documents was rejected, prompting the ongoing legal proceedings. Judge Carl Nichols has previously indicated his support for releasing as much information as possible without violating privacy laws. Adding further controversy, former US President Donald Trump recently commented on the situation, stating he would not deport Harry but took a jab at Meghan Markle, labelling her “terrible.”
