Prince of Wales faced his ‘lowest’ moment during King Charles and Catherine’s health battles
William experienced one of his most challenging periods when both Catherine and King Charles were diagnosed with cancer in 2024, a former aide has revealed.
During a special episode of 60 Minutes Australia, Jason Knauf, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ former communications secretary, shared insight into the future King’s emotional struggles during the royal health crisis.
“Within a couple of weeks, if you’re Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn’t believe it. It was awful, absolutely awful. It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him,” Knauf told Hello! magazine.
Discussing the speculation surrounding Catherine’s absence from public life, Knauf explained that the royal couple’s priority was their children’s well-being. The Duke and Duchess were focused on finding the right moment to inform their children while managing public scrutiny.
“The problem was that all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff kicked off online. But they didn’t want to say yet that she had cancer because they hadn’t told the children and were still working through how to do so,” he said.
Behind the scenes, William and Catherine were reportedly navigating the difficult decision of when and how to share the news with their family, highlighting their commitment to protecting their children during an unprecedented time.
