Monarch Plans Royal Tour Amid Health Challenges
Buckingham Palace has put an end to speculation about King Charles and Queen Camilla’s next royal tour, confirming that the couple will travel to Italy in April for a significant visit.
The tour will mark two major milestones—their 20th wedding anniversary and the 2025 Jubilee at the Holy See. Despite his ongoing health challenges, the King remains committed to the trip and is hopeful that Pope Francis, who has been battling double pneumonia, will be well enough to meet him.
According to Hello! Magazine, the royal family has expressed “hopes and prayers that Pope Francis’s health will enable the visit to go ahead.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed, “On Tuesday, 8th April, and clearly subject to Pope Francis' health, Their Majesties will visit the Holy See to join Pope Francis in celebrating the 2025 Jubilee, traditionally held once every 25 years.”
The Jubilee is a significant event for the Catholic Church, symbolising reconciliation, prayer, and unity. During their visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla will have an audience with Pope Francis and attend a service in the Sistine Chapel, focusing on the theme of care for creation—a cause both the King and the Pope have long championed.
