Queen Camilla meets with abuse survivors as royal couple continues Northern Ireland tour
Buckingham Palace has released a heartfelt update following King Charles’ candid comments about his cancer journey during a visit to Ulster University’s Cancer Research Centre.
As the King offered words of encouragement to patients, Queen Camilla quietly carried out a deeply emotional engagement of her own, meeting with domestic abuse survivors at Hillsborough Castle.
In a statement shared via the royal family’s official Instagram account, the Palace highlighted the urgency of the issue: “The @PoliceService.NI receive a report of domestic abuse every 16 minutes and a sexual offence every 2 hours.”
A spokesperson added, “This afternoon at Hillsborough Castle, The Queen convened survivors and those who work to support them, from across Northern Ireland.”
The update follows King Charles’ powerful moment at the research centre, where he told patients, “What’s that Winston Churchill saying? Keep buggering on. You just have to push on, don’t you.”
The King and Queen are currently undertaking their annual tour of Northern Ireland, combining royal duties with moments of compassion and reflection during a challenging time for the monarch.
