Doctor Breaks Silence on King Charles’ Cancer Battle

Renowned oncologist addresses public fears after monarch’s brief hospital stay

Concerns over King Charles III’s health have intensified following a brief hospitalisation due to temporary side effects from ongoing cancer treatment. Now, leading oncologist Professor Karol Sikora has stepped forward to offer clarity.

Speaking on GB News shortly before the monarch’s return to public view, Professor Sikora reassured the nation: “I think it's okay, no one need worry. He went to hospital and there's clearly a side effect.” He added that such reactions are "very usual" among those undergoing cancer therapy.

His comments came in response to the Palace’s announcement that the King had experienced temporary complications requiring hospital observation. Though the King’s engagements were postponed, he was discharged and returned to Clarence House, with further adjustments to his schedule made as a precaution.

The Palace confirmed: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital... His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House.”

Professor Sikora applauded the Palace for its relative openness, noting how much has changed in two decades: “Twenty years ago, we’d never be told anybody had cancer in the Royal Family.”

Encouraging a sense of normalcy, the medical expert advised that cancer patients—including the King—should remain active and engaged. “Whatever you do, just do it. Otherwise you sit there and become miserable,” he said.

On Friday morning, the 75-year-old monarch made his first public appearance since the incident, waving to supporters from a black Audi as he departed Clarence House en route to his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
