Royal expert warns Meghan may carry blame as children grow up distanced from royal roots
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received a sobering warning about what the future may hold for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, despite the Duchess of Sussex recently referencing their royal “Sussex” title.
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to Montecito, California, the couple has remained distant from the royal family. As a result, their children may grow up with little understanding of their royal heritage—something experts believe could prove emotionally complicated in years to come.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine, “When your heritage is one of the most famous families in the world, it will undoubtedly seem rather odd and perhaps sad that you hardly know or remember them.”
She added, “Imagine Archie, aged 15, telling his friends, ‘My grandpa is—or was—King! And my uncle is—or will be—King too.’ But he hardly knew or met them.”
Bond warned that Meghan may one day carry the emotional weight of that disconnect. “How sad… and Meghan would have to bear the brunt of the responsibility for that.”
Despite the distance, Bond believes the couple genuinely wants the best for their children and may choose to teach them about their royal background. “I just hope that by the time Archie and Lili grow up, things will be calmer and the family more united—even if they continue to live thousands of miles apart,” she concluded.
