Harry and Meghan’s Netflix Deal in Question as Original Contract Nears End

Expert says renewal likely, but future deal may be far less lucrative

With their £80 million Netflix deal set to expire later this year, speculation is mounting over whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will renew their partnership with the streaming giant.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has branded the deal as essential for the couple’s media brand, telling GB News, “They have to get Netflix and have to keep them on board.”

Signed in 2020, the five-year agreement saw early success with the couple’s debut docuseries Harry & Meghan, but follow-up projects failed to match that initial impact.

Despite the mixed results, Fitzwilliams believes a follow-on deal is likely, pointing to public praise from Netflix’s head of content. “I think they will get something from Netflix in the future… that seems to be the sign,” he explained.

However, the expert doubts the next contract will rival the value of the original. “I would be amazed if it was anything like what they planned when they first signed the £80 million,” he said. “Whatever contract comes up, it appears there’s going to be some sort of continuation, but it might be peanuts compared to the £80m.”

As the end of the deal approaches, all eyes remain on whether Netflix will extend its partnership with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex—and on what terms.
