Decision fuels speculation over Duke’s immigration status
Prince Harry’s US visa case has taken a dramatic turn as a federal judge ruled that key documents related to his immigration application must be made public.
The Duke of Sussex’s visa status has been under scrutiny following his admissions of past drug use in his memoir, Spare. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has been pushing for the release of his application, arguing that it could reveal whether Harry was granted special treatment under US immigration laws.
In a major development, Judge Carl Nichols has ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release a redacted version of the visa records by Tuesday. According to Daily Mail, this disclosure could provide the “clearest indication yet” of whether Harry was fully truthful on his application.
While some documents will be made public with redactions, DHS lawyers have insisted that one key file must remain confidential. Harry’s representatives have maintained that he was “truthful” in his application.
The ruling follows renewed scrutiny of the case after Donald Trump, now back in office as US President, previously criticised Harry and Meghan Markle but stated he would not seek to deport the Duke.
