King Charles III, reportedly eager to reunite with grandchildren Archie and Lilibet, has finally spoken about the prospect of Prince Harry returning to royal life.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to the US after stepping back as senior royals in 2020, remain distant from their family, despite occasional speculation about a possible reconciliation.
Rumours intensified last year when both the King's and the Princess of Wales’s health deteriorated due to cancer. Reports initially suggested Harry might temporarily return during the King's treatment; however, palace sources later dismissed the idea, indicating trust had broken down between Harry, William, and the King.
At a recent event marking the University of East London's 125th anniversary, Charles was unexpectedly asked about his younger son's potential return. When a man shouted, "Bring back Harry please," the King appeared initially confused, asking, "Who?" Upon clarification, Charles replied softly and poignantly, "It would be nice," before quickly moving on.
It has been over a year since Charles last saw Harry, who briefly visited London in February 2024 following news of his father's illness.
Royal commentator Robert Hardman told the Daily Beast, "Whatever reconciliation or bridge-building happens, it needs to be a three-way process."
