Monarch encourages patients with emotional message amid ongoing treatment
King Charles offered a rare and emotional insight into his personal battle with cancer during a significant visit to Ulster University’s Coleraine campus in Northern Ireland.
The monarch, accompanied by Queen Camilla as part of their annual trip to the region, toured the university’s Cancer Research Centre to learn more about the groundbreaking work being done to support patients and healthcare professionals.
In a joint Instagram post from the Royal Family and Ulster University, video highlights of the King's visit were shared along with the caption: “The King found out more about the amazing work our researchers are doing and how their work is positively impacting cancer health practitioners and patients in Northern Ireland and beyond.”
During the visit, King Charles delivered a heartfelt message to cancer patients, urging them to persevere. Quoting Winston Churchill with a touch of humour, he said, “What’s that Winston Churchill saying? Keep buggering on.” He added, “You just have to push on, don’t you.”
The visit comes as the King continues to undergo cancer treatment, offering both strength and solidarity to those facing similar struggles.
